Andrew Stewart has been in Organic Vegetable Agriculture for 12 years as a farm worker, farm manager, and as an independent farmer. He's worked on farms from 2 1/2 acres to 4,000 acres. He's also been exploring and honing the additional passion of agroforestry over the past couple of years. Additionally, Andrew is passionate about music and the arts, woodworking, mythology/folklore, and natural healing. Overall, he's interested in demonstrating an honorable rural livelihood for himself and others, and serving the larger community around all things food and farming related.
Andrew is currently in the process of starting an online farmers market called Rare Earth Food Collective, that aggregates local farmers and other producers products and makes them available at various pick-up locations throughout the community. It's important to consider overhead costs and resources behind a foodshed, but also the social equity picture behind food access. REFC aims to improve both by simply investing in the diversity of community members.
